Istanbul International Film Festival

The Istanbul International Film Festival is the first and oldest international film festival in Turkey, organised by the Istanbul Foundation of Culture and Arts (IKSV). It is held every year in April in movie theatres in Istanbul. The festival aims to encourage the development of cinema in Turkey and to promote quality films on the Turkish cinema market.

Theatre performances used to be a part of the programme of the International Istanbul Festival since 1973. But only by 1989 they reached their own independent identity with the ’The International Istanbul Theatre Festival’. The annual event includes the best classical and experimental theatre and dance theatre, music theatre and theatrical concerts.

The International Istanbul Jazz Festival presents a remarkable variety of music from big names in jazz at locations all over the city. The festival was first held in 1986 and is organized by the Istanbul Foundation of Culture and Arts.
