The String of Autumn was established in 1996 by the musical curators of the Prague Castle Administration, Marek Vrabec and Martin Pechanec. It includes jazz and classical music and was initially incorporated into the Prague Castle Administration as a concert cycle.
   
 

International Jazz Festival

The international jazz festival is definitely a big event in Prague’s jazz scene. Since 1964 the festival has been celebrated every year in autumn. During the dark days of communism jazz symbolised artistic and personal freedom.
   
 

International Festival of Advent and Christmas Music

The international festival of Advent and Christmas music is a traditional festival that had been celebrated for almost 2 decades. As every year it takes place at the first advent weekend and is organised by NIPOS- ARTAMA, an institute of the ministry of culture that supports not-professional art, and the or-fea Prague.
   
 

Prague Christmas
11-14 December 2008 (Annual)
Prague December is an international festival of Christmas carols, customs as well as advent and Christmas music. At Christmas Prague seems just more romantic and more hospitable than during the rest of the year. Christmas markets are up, shop windows are nicely decorated, Christmas trees adorn the town squares and the early dusk is filled with warm light.
   
 

International Brass Band Festival
3-4 January 2009 (Annual)
This festival invites people who take an interest in brass music to participate in the International Brass Band music competition in the early days of each new year. The event in January ties up to the long tradition of brass music festivals in the Czech Republic.

Prague Spring is an international music festival presenting outstanding performing artists, symphony orchestras and chamber music ensembles. The organisation committee has been represented by important personalities of the Czech musical world already from the beginning of the festival in 1946.

United Islands of Prague is an international multi-genre music festival that takes place in June every year. Bands from the Czech Republic but also from other countries around the globe come together and perform in numerous clubs. The music ranges from rock and pop to Ethno, Jazz, Hip hop and many other.

Musica Sacra Praga

Musica Sacra Praga is an annual summer festival where choirs from all over the world compete at Prague’s churches and concert halls. Since 1992 the events has been attracting hundreds of choirs of any kind.

Bohuslav Martinů - International Bohuslav Martinů Festival and Choir Competition
24-28 June 2009 (Annual)
The festivities in 2009 are devoted to the 50th anniversary of the Bohuslav Martinů’s death. Many international and national choirs take part in the festival and competition. Performances mainly take place in the Pardubice region but also at some exquisite locations in Prague.

European Competition of Czech and Moravian Brass Bands

Prague Proms (dates not yet confirmed)

This summer festival presents some of the finest of local and international artists, soloists, conductors and ensembles, including the Czech National Symphony Orchestra. Many of the concerts are held in the Municipality House. Young and old musicians come together to follow the colourfulness of genre diversity. Jazz concerts are held at the Jazz Club Reduta.
