Ankara is the capital city of Turkish Republic. Despite its long history, which goes back to the Hittites, the city became only after the creation of Republic in 1923 an important center. Nowadays it is a modern and diverse city, with a lot of emphasis on bureaucratic centers. Almost all the important state institutions are situated in Ankara.
Nevertheless Ankara offers a lot of seeing for the traveler. With its shopping centers, museums and entertainment possibilities it is worth to visit. Laying in the middle of the country, visiting Ankara for couple of days can also a break on doorway to the Eastern, north western and southern part of Anatolia.
