Antalya has a nice assortment of cafés and bars, including chic modern establishments, traditional Turkish coffee houses, down-to-earth local bars, touristy cocktail bars, and even an Irish pub or two. There are drinking establishments located throughout the city, with a particularly nice assortment to be found in the centre Kaleici district. The traditional coffee houses in Turkey hold an important place in the social lives of the people, whether in big cities or small towns, and are usually full primarily with men, leisurely chatting, sipping coffee and smoking pipes. Cafés in general are popular with all Turks, especially cafés with pretty terraces, like most of them in Antalya. Cafés typically feature a tempting assortment of Turkish pastries and other snacks, and some offer full lunches and dinners. The favoured drinks in cafés include coffee and herbal teas such as mint, appel and spice varieties. The bars usually have a typical, good selection of drinks, featuring traditional Turkish brews as well as the usual international ones. Most of the bars in the city also double as discos later in the night.
