Furin Kazan
Sushi is the main specialty of this gourmet-quality Japanese restaurant, but there are a variety of other traditional dishes as well. Customers have their choice of ordering a quick meal or a leisurely dinner, and in either case you will be treated to some of the best of Japanese cuisine. Both maki sushi and nigiri sushi are on offer, as well as many other delicacies that change frequently. Furin Kazan has a nice location in the centre of Athens, just three minutes walk from Syntagma Square.
Godzilla
Located in the Psirri district where traditional Greek tavernas predominate, Godzilla makes a welcome and exotic change. The restaurant is a sushi bar that also serves sashimi, tempura and other Japanese delicacies. It lives up to its name with numerous pictures of Godzilla from the movie all over the walls, and the rest of the décor is quite striking as well. In addition to fish sushi, they also make vegetarian varieties, such as maki with cucumber, pineapple and mint leaves. For starters, there is a nice selection of soups and salads, and Japanese Asahi beer is offered, as well as a wide variety of other drinks. The green tea is particularly good. This restaurant is informal, and quite affordable, especially for Japanese cuisine.
