Eleftheroudakis
An enormous 8-storey bookstore, Eleftheroudakis offers one of the largest selections of books in the country, and has the widest range of English language books. There are many magazines and newspapers available here, many of which are free, and a nice café where customers can relax and peruse their purchases. The staff is very friendly and doesn’t mind when people, mostly tourists, sit down and read but don’t buy anything. They also carry CDs, featuring Greek music, but including all genres. Concerts and book-readings are occasionally held here.
Compendium
This is a nice English language bookstore in the Plaka, near to Syntagma Square. The shop isn’t very large, but they carry a nice selection of books, including fiction, nonfiction, travel, children’s books and more, as well as magazines, maps and newspapers. Both new and used books are sold here. They also host occasional special events such as book-signings and readings by authors.

Reymondos
A classic Greek bookstore, this shop has a wide selection and a friendly staff. They carry books in multiple languages, including many English books. While you will find many genres available here, from fiction to cookbooks, you will notice that a special emphasis is given to photography books. There are many books with collections of breathtaking photos of Greece, as well as other subjects. Magazines and newspapers are available as well.
