Benaki Museum Gift Shop
This gift shop attached to the Benaki museum has a stunning array of beautiful items for sale. There are high-quality copies of Greek icons, posters, folk art, games, jewellery and more. The art and jewellery is inspired by ancient pieces in the museum, and includes sinuous silver jewellery like snake-shaped rings, elegant necklaces and bracelets, broaches, and pins. The posters, games and other items are also historically inspired or based around works of art in the museum. Prices are quite reasonable.
Tanagrea
This is one of Athens’s oldest gift shops, and carries a variety of traditional items and crafts. There are posters, knick-knacks, baskets, pottery and other crafts. While some of the items edge toward the kitchy, the handmade products are of genuine high quality and there is a good enough selection to suit most tastes. One of the most popular items that this shop is known for are their hand-painted ceramic pomegranates, a symbol of fertility and good luck.
