Shopping in Barcelona is one of the main attractions for tourists that visit the city. The large variety and good quality of merchandise and the wide shopping areas make Barcelona a heaven for shoppers. The Passeig de Garcia houses many jewellery, fashion and gift shops and is set in impressive modernist buildings. The latest architectural shopping landmark is Granvia 2 centre and if you are interested in a large shopping mall, you better go to L’illa Diagonal.
L’illa Diagonal is a large gleaming white building complex with over 130 shops, offering fine fashion for men and women, shoes, jewellery, leather garments, cosmetic, toys, children’s clothing and food stores.
The old city is also one of the main shopping areas. The beautiful streets of Born and Gotic have a wide variety of fashion designers shops. Around Passeig de Garcia and La Rambla you can find exquisite jewellery, art galleries, bookshops and special gifts.
Shopping hours are from 9 am to 1.30 pm and from 4 pm to 8 pm. Most big shops and shopping centres open at 10 am and don’t close at lunchtime.
Usually, on Saturdays shops will not open at the afternoon and on Sundays most shops are closed (except for some tourist areas).
