The English Theatre of Bruges
The English Theatre was established by the Tema Theatre Company which was formed in 2004 in order to provide free drama lessons to children. As the first project was started in Tema, the company was named Tema Theatre Company. In 2007 the company expanded to Belgium and created the English Theatre of Bruges which stages mainly English language productions from the UK but also from other parts of the world.

De Werf
The “De Werf” is one of the 12 Flemish art centres which concentrate on young and new theatre talents, trying to give them a chance to publish their art and their productions to a broad audience. De Werf’s programme is rich in cultural performances. Every year in autumn the theatre festival “Jonge snaken” takes place but there are also other productions for adults and children.

Cultuurcentrum (Cultural Centre)
The Cultural Centre offers weekly theatre performances in the Biekorf, De Dijk, the Magdalenazaal and the Stadsschouwburg (City Theatre). It gives a brilliant insight into the Flemish theatre world but also shows guest performances from other European countries. The programme includes everything from family evenings to avant-garde performances.

Biekorf
Biekorf is a small theatre with 224 seats. It is located in the Biekorf complex where also the public library and the Cultural Centre are situated. The programme includes smaller and more experimental productions as well as theatre, music theatre, dance, concerts and readings.

De Brugse Stadsschouwburg (City Theatre)
The Cit theatre of Bruges was built in 1869 and is one of the best preserved city theatres in Europe. Behind the nice Neo-Renaissance façade a palace-like foyer and a majestic theatre hall are located and create a fantastic ambience and a great acoustic for theatre performances. The Stadsschouburg is used by the Cultuurcentrum Brugge as a platform for its national and international performances including dance, theatre and concerts.

De Dijk
The theatre De Dijk has about 250 seats and is located in Sient-Pieters next to the local department of the public library. It is the perfect place for performances that are made for a big audience. The De Dijk is mainly used for family performances and smaller theatre and humoristic productions.

Magdalenazaal
The Magdalenazaal or short MaZ is mainly used for youth performances. The Cultuurcentrum Brugge and the Cactus Muziekcentrum organise concerts, small club events and sometimes also theatre and dance performances. The theatre consists of 400 seats and 900 standing places.
