Shopping

This charming city offers some nice shopping possibilities for everybody’s budget. Apart from small shops and exquisite boutiques, there is a nice shopping gallery called Zilverpand which is located between Noordzandstraat and Zuidznadstraat. Bruges is quite manageable when it comes to shopping, and most of the shopping areas are located between the market square and the old gates of the city: Super Shopping Straat (Steenstraat, Sint-Amandsstraat, Simon Stevinplein, Mariastraat, Zuidzandstraat, Zilverpand), St.-Jakobsstraat, St.-Amandsstraat, Geldmuntstraat, Noordzandstraat, ''t Zand, Smedenstraat, Vlamingstraat, Philipstockstraat, Smedenstraat, Katelijnestraat, Gentpoortstraat. Opening times for shops are usually from 9 am to 6 pm and until 9 pm on Fridays. Supermarkets are in general open a bit longer, until 8 pm during the week and until 9 pm on Fridays.

Bruges also has some markets where you can buy fresh food including fish and vegetables and markets selling second-hand clothes and other items and some antiques. Opening times for the markets are:

Food: Marekt Square: Wednesdays 7 am – 1 pm
Food / non- food: ‘t Zand Square and Beursplein: Saturdays: 7 am – 1 pm
Food / non-food: Ten Briele: Sundays 8 am - 1 pm
Fishmarket: Tuesday – Saturday: mornings
Flea market along the Dijver: Saturday and Sunday 10 am – 6 pm (March – Nov)
