Public Transportation
Bruges is a city where public transportation is actually not really necessary as it is very compact and therefore easily manageable by foot. Most of the tourist attractions are within reach of each other and honestly speaking wandering through the canals is much more fun than taking a bus. Nevertheless, there is a bus system that operates in the city and in the surrounding areas. The easiest was, though, is not going by bus but by bike. The city is well equipped with bicycle paths along the roads. Plenty of cycle racks allow you to lock your bike securely while sightseeing. Bikes can be rented at bike shops or even at local hostels. The tourist office provides a useful brochure with cycling tours and map for EUR1.50.

Taxis
There are not many taxis in the city as there is not much need for it. Most of the taxis are found at the train station or at the market square. Trying to find a free taxi in the city in the evening hours can be very difficult. It is easier to make a reservation in advance or ask ate the hotel or at a restaurant to call a cab for you. Tel.: +32 50 334 444.
