Brussels has a lively nightlife scene, with a wide variety of clubs, cinemas, music venues and bars to choose from. Some of the best areas to walk around looking for clubs or other places to hang out is in the centre in the Rue du Cirque area and the neighbourhood around Place Fontainas. There is also a trendy nightlife area and many nice bars around the Place St. Géry, and a lot going on between the De Brouckèreplein and the Beursplein. Brussels is said to be one of the top European party cities, so the dance clubs and late night bars try to live up to that reputation. Some are wilder than others of course, but nearly all of them have a festive and upbeat atmosphere.
