Villa Lorraine
A delightfully elegant traditional French restaurant, the Villa Lorraine is located on the edge of the Bois de la Cambre park in south Brussels. The multiple dining rooms are spacious and airy, letting in lots of light and furnished with wicker furniture. One of the city’s top chefs is in residence here, Freddy Vandecasserie, and his specialties include saddle of lamb in red wine and herb sauce, partridge with apples, baked lobster with turmeric and coconut milk, and broccoli terrine with wild asparagus. The wines are carefully chosen and invariably delicious. In the summer, a lovely garden is open for dining. Smart dress is expected here, and men should wear suits. Prices are on the high side, but there is quite a wide range, from €25 – 80 for most meals. All major credit cards are accepted.
Opening times: Mon - Sat 12 pm - 3.30 pm and 7 pm - 9.30 pm

La Maison du Cygne
This is another pricey French restaurant, but the unique meals are worth paying a bit extra for. Classic French dishes are featured, such as faison rôti à la Brabançonne, waterzooi de homard (lobster stew), veal sautéed with wild mushrooms, oysters in champagne, and sole mousse. Located in a beautiful 17th century building overlooking the Grand Place, the restaurant contains five different dining rooms. The scope of the wine cellar is amazing, with more than 70,000 bottles in stock at any given time! The average cost here is around € 70. The restaurant is usually full because of its central location, and reservations are recommended.

Taverne du Passage
Located in the famous and scenic Galeries Saint-Hubert, this restaurant has become one of the city’s most popular places to eat. Each day features tasty and creative specials in addition to the fixed menu. Some recommended dishes include the perfectly seasoned filet américain, chicken waterzooi and choucroute à l’alsacienne. The atmophere is very welcoming, and if you sit at the long table in the middle of the restaurant, you will likely be engaged in conversation by your fellow diners. The décor is Art Deco style, relating back to the restaurant’s origins in 1928. Prices are very reasonable, averaging between € 20 - 30.
