La Porte des Indes
Thought by many to be the best Indian restaurant in Brussels, this one serves well-prepared and authentic Indian cuisine, a rare find in the low countries. It was founded by a Belgian antiques dealer, Karl Steppe, but he knows his Indian food. The staff wears traditional Indian garb and the décor includes many wood carvings imported from India. There are a large number of curries with many different sauces, some very spicy, others coconut milk based. There is also a vegetarian menu available and many of the specialties do not contain meat. Sample some of the delicious appetizers such as pakura , papadams and samosas. If you order the “brass tray” you can try a small portion of several different specialties. Prices range from € 10 - 30. Credit cards are accepted.

Passage to India
Located in north Brussels in a neighbourhood with several Indian and Pakistani restaurants, this one stands out for its exceptional food and friendly staff. The dishes are artistically presented and unique, and both starters and main dishes can be adapted to your tastes.
Most dishes are fairly mild or medium spicy, but if you like hot ones ask for either Madras or vindloo dishes, the latter of which being the spiciest of all. Prawn puri is one of the best appetizers, and the tandoori dishes are among the main dish specialties. There are also a number of Persian-style or dhansak dishes on the menu, and the Bangledeshi fish entrees are quite distintive, though maybe not for everyone.
