Librairie Saint-Hubert
This is an artsy books and stationary store right by the Grand Place. They carry books in French and English and focus on art, architecture and photography. They have an extensive collection of books and have also recently begun to exhibit art. The first floor area displays works by many contemporary artists, most of them local.

Filigranes
A unique establishment in the “European” district, Filigranes is much more than a bookshop. It also includes a coffee shop, becomes a concert venue from time to time, and hosts prestigious book signing and press conference sessions. They stock a wide selection of books on many topics and have a great children’s section. The décor is unique and a bit surrealist, with a sense of humour as well.

Located in the Upper Town, this bookstore is unique for its scope of titles and dedication to rare and out of print books. The shop stocks more than 40,000 titles all together, with areas of specialty being literature, fine arts and the human sciences. If they don’t have what you are looking for or it is out of print, the staff will help you to find it. The shop is beautiful as well, located in what used to be a ballroom in the Royal Saint Hubert Galleries. There are many historic decorative features such as stucco ceilings and walls full of mirrors.

Waterstone''s
This widespread chain store carrying English language books is large and has two floors, containing a wide selection of literature and other genres. They also sell magazines, newspapers and maps. Many of the items are rather overpriced, but it is one of the best sources of English materials in Brussels. The staff at this branch is British.

Galerie Bortier
A booklover’s paradise, this charming and unusual arcade in the Upper Town encompasses two streets that are devoted entirely to rare and secondhand bookshops. The arcade was designed by the same architect who built the Galeries St-Hubert, and is a labyrianthian passage full of one-of-a-kind bookstores. You can also find old prints and maps in some of these shops.
