Petofi Csarnok
This venue is located within Varosliget City Park, and is locally known by the name “Pesca.” It includes both a small outdoor stage and an indoor hall where many famous international artists perform. The concerts are extremely affordable, however. Previous featured artists include James Brown, Tina Turner, Ziggy Marley, and many great folk bands. The hall also holds folk dancing events and exhibitions. The box office is open weekdays from 2 pm - 7 pm.

Old Man''s Music Pub
This hip music club features the best jazz and blues performances in Hungary. It attracts a more mature crowd and the real jazz connaisseurs. Regular groups that play here include the Pege Quartet and Hobo and his band. There is no cover charge, and no fixed closing time: the pub stays open until the music winds down and the people go home.
Budai Vigadó (Buda Concert Hall)
This theatre is home to the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble, one of the oldest and most prestigious folk groups in the country. It is made up of 30 dancers, a gypsy orchestra, and a folk orchestra. Their performances are always very lively and exciting, mixing “high art and popular tradition,” according to the New York Times. You can reserve tickets in advance by telephone, and they usually range in price from 4600 Fr - 5600 Fr. Performances are usually on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.

Hungarian State Opera House
This popular and elegant opera house features all kinds of operas, and some plays are occasionally put on here as well. It is the home of the Hungarian State Opera, most famous for performing grand 19th century operas as well as 19th and 20th century Hungarian operas. Other companies also perform here, and you can hear everything from Montiverdi to Webern at some point during the year.
Liszt Ferenc Music Academy
This is the most famous music venue in all of Hungary, and is also the location of the Ferenc Liszt Music Academy. The concerts here are usually classical, and often feature the renowned Hungarian Radio Symphony. This orchestra was founded in 1943, and has gained a worldwide reputation. They are especially known for their interpretations of Beethoven and contemporary Hungarian music. Order tickets for concerts at this venue well in advance, as they tend to sell out very soon.
