A friendly and affordable restaurant near the Basilica, Via Luna offers a variety of good pasta and meat dishes. It gets very crowded here at lunchtime with people taking a break from work, but is a quieter place to come for dinner. There are some tasty salads for starters with some choice Italian olives, and a wide variety of pastas and pasta sauces. The meat and fish dishes are good and feature beef, chicken, lamb, veal, salmon, trout and shellfish. Credit cards are accepted.

Ristorante Giardino
This is a top-notch Italian restaurant located in the lobby of a fancy hotel. You can enter from the sidewalk in back of the hotel or go in the hotel’s front door. The restaurant attracts a lot of tourists, but is popular with Hungarians as well and known for the high quality of the food. Specials include vitello tonnato, poached loin of veal with tuna fish dressing, sopressa carpaccio, cuttlefish with pesto, veal loin with aubergine and a lame caper sauce, and grilled fillet of red mullet with olives, potatoes, and emulsion of prosecco. Expect to pay around 5000 Fr here. Reservations are recommended and credit cards are accepted.

Sanremo
Sanremo has it all, and is a relaxed and down-to-earth restaurant with a friendly atmosphere, pleasant decor, and some of the best Italian food in Hungary. The restaurant attracts many Italians, and is also popular with Hungarians and tourists. It is situated in a large cellar, divided into two halves, with a café-bar on one side and and a proper dining room on the other. The food is simple yet delicious, and the pizzas are cooked to perfection. There are also many pasta dishes, meat courses, and salads, and the wine list has some nice varieties to choose from.
