Fovam Ter Covered Markets
There have been covered markets here since 1897, and this is one of the most popular places for the locals to buy fresh produce, meat, fish and cheese. The market has three storeys and packs a wide array of stalls and shops together. There are many different butchers, cheese merchants, bakers, and other food stalls, as well as some people selling clothes or bags. The market is open on weekdays and on Saturday, Saturday being by far the busiest day.

Ecseri Flea Market
This is a busy flea market full of both tourists and locals, and you can find just about anything here. There is a lot of junk, but some pleasant surprises as well. Prices have risen now that so many tourists come here, but you can still find some great bargains. Most stalls sell some kind of mix of antiques, books, porcelein, paintings, furniture, toys, and clothing.

Opening times: Mon - Fri 8 am - 2 pm, Sat 6 am - 2 pm, Sun 8 am - 1 pm

Józsefvárosi Piac
This is the market closest to the centre, and is located near the Józsefváros train station. It is generally known as a flea market, but most of the items sold are new rather than secondhand. This is a great place to come for bargains, and you will typically find higher-quality goods than at other flea markets. There is clothing, including some lovely Chinese silk dresses and pajamas, chocolate, liquor, toys, household items, furniture, tea, and random memorabilia. Feel free to bargain, since otherwise you will end up paying too much for everything.

Opening times: Daily 6 am - 6 pm

Vásárcsarnok
This is a grand market set up as a food hall, and has been here so long it has basically become a historic sight. It’s one of the best places to get fresh food brought in from the countryside near Budapest. Because of this, seasonal products are featured, and are of very good quality. You will find basic produce, cheese, breads and fine meats as well as prepared foods and some craft items.

Opening times: Mon 6 am - 5 pm, Tues - Fri 6 am - 6 pm, Sat 6 am - 2 pm
