Gezira Art Center
This building includes five different galleries as well as a lecture theatre, cinema and the Museum of Islamic Ceramics. Some of the galleries contain rotating exhibits, while others are temporary, and this location displays more than 10,000 works of art. Most of the works are paintings and sculptures, and there are works from the early 20th century to the present, showing the development of the Egyptian art movement. Some of the most important contributers are Mahmoud Mokhtar, the first sculptor in the Egyptian modern art movement, Mohammed Nagui, Youssed Kamel, Ragheb Ayyad and Ahmad Sabri, known for his portraits.

Townhouse Gallery Exhibits
This is the best private gallery in Cairo, and its owner William Wells is a very important figure in the city’s art scene. The exhibits change frequently and often involve impressively constructed displays. Works by some of Cairo’s most well-respected painters are displayed, including those by Hossam Sakr and Aiman Ramadan. One of the best times to visit the gallery is during Al-Nitaq, the annual Cairo arts festival in March.
