The American University Bookshop
This bookstore carries the widest range of English books and books in other European languages. They sell a variety of fiction as well as scholarly works and many books by Egyptian authors in translation. Many of the books are published by the University Press. The shop also sells stationary and some office supplies.
L'Orientaliste
This is a down-to-earth, old fashioned bookshop specializing in rare books having to do with the Middle East. They carry one of the world’s best selections of out-of-print books and antique maps.

Anglo-Egyptian Bookstore
This is a friendly book and stationary store that is excellent for browsing. It carries many books in English and languages other than Arabic. The non-fiction selection is particularly good, though there are books on almost every topic.
