Copenhagen Opera House
This recently opened hall is Denmark’s fisr venue built specifically as an opera house. A distinctive and modern building, it is a bulgy glass module on the harbour, with a roof that appears to float. The concert program is varied and energetic, with acts such as Elvis Costello’s The Secret Songs, opera classics like Tosca, and new musicals such as the 2007 show Matador. The classy main theatre is surrounded by a shiny wood globe, suspended like a Tibetan bead inside the glass outside walls. The stage revolves, so everyone gets to see everything. Tickets sell out fast, so it is best to reserve them well in advance.
