Abbey Theatre
The Abbey Theatre has been the national theatre of Ireland for almost 100 years and is known for its quality productions. The original theatre was located on this site but is no longer standing, as it was destroyed by fire in 1951. It was replaced in 1966 with a plain and functional building, and seats 600. Tickets typically range from € 15 - 26. There are discounts for seniors, students, and children on Mon - Thurs evenings and the Saturday matinees.

The Peacock
A small theatre located in the same complex as The Abbey, The Peacock is dedicated to contemporary plays and various forms of experimental theatre. Some of the plays are in Gaelic, though most are in English. In addition to drama, it also hosts some poetry readings. Tickets are slightly cheaper than at the Abbey, ranging from € 10 - 20.

The Gate
A prestigious theatre just off Parnell Square, The Gate has been around since 1928. It has always featured a broad range of plays, from Shakespeare and other classics to contemporary works and experimental theatre. The theatre was recently restored and now seats 370. Tickets range from € 21 - 25 for most productions, and previews are less.

Gaity
A charming, smaller theatre, Gaity is used for musical performances, plays, and occasionally dance. The shows are varied, often featuring opera, Broadway-style musicals, or traditional Irish plays. The operas are usually smaller-scale, and are likely to be early music or contemporary productions. Tickets at Gaity generally range from € 21- 25, and are € 15 for previews.

Jury''s Irish Cabaret
This is the venue of Ireland’s longest running show, which has been going strong for thirty years. It is a compilation of traditional Irish music, world music, and dance. Each show includes some lively and inspiring instrumental music, traditional ballads, Broadway songs, ballet, set dancing, and humourous monologues. Audience participation is also encouraged. Dinner is optional and served at 7.15 pm, and the show begins at 8 pm. Tickets are around € 50.
