The Courtyard Café
This café opened a little more than five years ago, and has been developing an outstanding reputation. The food is genuinely good and well-prepared, and you get excellent value for your money here as the prices are very reasonable. The restaurant is chic yet unpretentious, and features a nice selection of soups, salads, appetizers, and some heartier traditional Irish fare. There are two dining rooms, and the one upstairs is a piano bar that often features live piano music.

Dakota Bar
This is a very hip and trendy bar located in a somewhat seedy and Bohemian neighbourhood. It isn’t a large bar and often gets crowded with hoards of students and under-30s. It features a wide selection of cocktails and bottled beers, and has basically every other kind of drink you can imagine as well. The interior of the bar is comfortable and artsy, and includes small leather couches along the walls. There is also a nice patio in use in the summer.

Knightsbridge
A lively, large and welcoming pub, Knightsbridge is a popular place to come with groups. It is crowded every night, but has different areas to hang out, including a large bar area, tables to sit at, and some spaces for standing, so it is possible to find your own niche. The drinks are expensive, but you can order anything, and there are some very good cocktails. Lively music is played throughout the night, and some nights feature live performances, usually traditional Irish.

Market Bar
This bar has been converted from an old warehouse, and its current state demonstrates an innovative and creative use of space. The Gothic red-brick building has plenty of character, and to get indoors you first pass through a charming little beer garden. The pub has two levels, with the bar and main drinking area downstairs, and additional tables upstairs. There is a restaurant area at the back of the pub where you can order tapas and other snacks or light meals.
Opening times: Mon - Thurs 12 pm - 11.30 pm, Fri and Sat 12 pm - 12.30 am, Sun 4 pm - 11 pm

Left Bank Bar
This pub is located it what used to be the Central Bank of Ireland, but is now a chic, late-night bar and cocktail lounge. It is decorated with reference to its origins, however, with gold bars and moulded coins on the walls. The bar has a sophisticated, though friendly atmosphere, and specializes in a variety of cocktails. They are usually playing good retro music from the 70s and 80s.

Hogan''s Bar
One of the trendiest bars in Dublin, Hogan’s is popular primarily with a young crowd, and most of the people who drink here are under 30. The bar is large, with two floors, and on the ground floor the beautiful carved-wood bar gives it a feeling of elegance. Weekends get very busy and crowded, as this is one of the best places to come for a late-night pint. The music is generally lively, upbeat, and loud.
