Florence does not have the same kind of rich and varied café scene as many European cities, since people usually take their coffee or tea to go, or else drink it up quickly while standing at an expresso bar or snack bar. There are a variety of beautiful cafés in the city, however, many of which offer delightful snacks and pasteries. Some terrace cafés are decidedly tourist traps, luring people to overpriced and low-quality food, but this is not necessarily a general rule. Several establisments are cafés by day and bar hang-outs by night. There are a number of good bars to choose from in the city, and wine bars have become very popular.
