With its many shopping streets Frankfurt am Main is a real „El Dorado“ for shopping fanatics. The different parts of the city all have nice and attracting shopping streets with a great variety of shops. Beside the Zeil in Frankfurt’s city centre, the Schweitzer Straße in Sachsenhausen, the Leipziger Straße in Bockenheim and the Berger Straße in Bornheim offer an extensive diversity of shopping possibilities. There the shopping experience is much more relaxed, as the streets are not as crowded as in the inner city. The main shopping attraction, though, is the Zeil, which is arguably the most famous and top-selling shopping street in Germany. Hundreds of shops and boutiques of different kinds as well as big department stores line up next to each other. For the ones being more interested in noble boutiques Goethe- and Schillerstraße are exactly the right addresses. Big shopping centres like the Nordwestzentrum, the Hessen Center and the shopping centre at the airport are located outside the city and are always worth a visit. The shops close to the main train station, in Bergen-Enkheim and at the airport usually have extended opening times. After shopping or just as an escape from all the “turbulences” a trip to the Fressgass’ is very recommendable as it is Frankfurt’s culinary paradise.
