Zeil (City Centre)
Frankfurt’s most popular and Germany’s most top-selling shopping street, the Zeil, is located between Hauptwache and Konstabler Wache. Since 1973 the Zeil is a 40 m long pedestrian area which was first mentioned as “Zeyl” in the 17th century. Later from the 18th and 19th century guest houses, shops and later also department stores shaped the appearance of the street. After many extensions and reconstructions the shopping experience on the Zeil is perfect and glamorous. The futuristically built shopping mall “Les Facettes” has a roof terrace from which a nice view over Frankfurt’s skyline up to the Taunus can be enjoyed. Beside the many shops numerous cafes have established on the Zeil. Amidst the shopping street a green space appears where shopper and others can relax. A special service: bags can be locked away in lockers on the B-level of the Hauptwache.
