Shopping
Everybody who loves shopping should start at Hamburg’s first address – the city centre. Here shopping malls, big and small department stores and fashionable boutiques line up next to each other and provide enough possibilities for shopaholic. The area between Jungfernstieg and Stadthausbrücke is Hamburg’s most exclusive shopping mile. Showrooms of known designers, boutiques and traditional fashion houses have their location in this shopping paradise. Thanks to the good public transportation shopping trips can be started anywhere.
The latest shopping temple is the Europa-Passage between Ballindamm and Mönckebergstraße. But also small shops are not to be scoffed at.
Less designers but more culture and a charming appearance is presented by the quarters Sternschanze and Karolienenviertel. Here you can find self-made accessories, fancy clothing, music products and much more. The area of Altona offers many small charming shops and of course the usual brands such as H&M and Zara. Chic and elegant shoppers are in good hands in Eppendorf where exquisite shops offer living accessories, galleries, fashion boutiques, jewellery and shoes shops. Less elegant but therefore more trendy are the shops and cafes in Eimsbüttel. Here shopping can easily be combined with a relaxing break in cosy café.
Most of the shops are open from Monday to Saturday until 8 pm. Some shops even have their doors open until 10 pm, although this does not apply to most small shops. Additionally to the normal opening times, there are 4 Sundays per year where shopping is possible.
