Krakow is the centre of Poland’s cultural scene, and there are more museums, theatres, and other arts venues here than in any other city in the country. The cultural agenda here is very rich, with a wide variety of concerts, plays, other performances, exhibitions and festivals taking place at any given time. Popular festivals held here include annual film, photography, and classical music festivals, and there is also a world-reknowned Festival of Jewish Culture taking place every summer.
In additon to Krakow’s grand opera halls, historic theatres, and other traditonal venues, many exciting cultural events take place in arty cafés and cellars. These are known to host everything from jazz concerts to experimental theatre, and have become a popular way to experience the bohemian side of the city’s cultural life. A good website where you can find details of what’s going on in the city at any given time is: www.cracow-life.com/events/events.php
