Pod Aniolami
This restaurant has won many awards and is one of the best in Krakow, featuring a variety of traditional specialties and marinated meats. Many of the meat dishes are cooked on an elm wood-fired grill giving them a distinctive and delicious smoky flavour. The restaurant is located in a beautiful 13th century building which greatly adds to its charm, and there is an old fashioned courtyard as well.

Restaurant Hawelka
This restaurant has also been around for quite some time, founded in 1876. In many ways it still maintains appears as a throwback to the days of the Austro Hungarian empire, with a prominent portrait of Emperor Franz Josef and general 19th-century-style décor. The food is traditional Polish with several classic Austrian dishes thrown in, such as goulash with Viennese dumplings. There are also many good Polish beers on offer here.

Kawaleria Szarza Smaku
A fresh new restaurant in the heart of the old town, Kawaleria presents traditional Polish food with some modern twists. The menu is extensive and varied, as is the layout of the interior. You can choose to sit at the bar, in a small and cozy dining room, or in the grand banquet hall. The name of the restaurant means “Cavalry,” and horses and battles are a theme here, featured in numerous paintings and old-fashioned war paraphernalia lining the walls.
