Two centuries ago, the Netherlands was the only country in the world that was allowed to trade with Japan. Two centuries ago, Japan was still a great mystery. A German doctor named Von Siebold who worked for the Dutch, lived six years in Japan and gathered a great collection of rare fabrics, flowers, animals and objects,
The permanent exhibition features an ever-changing selection from the more than 12,000 items in the collection. The museum also hosts special temporary exhibitions of modern Japanese and Dutch design, as well as displaying top pieces loaned by other collections
