Verdi
An old cinema that was recently refurbished and reopened looking much as it did when it was originally built, this is a charming theatre in which to see films. It is a fairly large cinema, with five screens showing films at once, and presents a big diversity of movies. There are both mainstream international releases as well as lesser known European art films. There is also a little bar where you can get a drink or snack. The first showing is at 4 pm, and the last at 10.30 pm.

Entrance prices: € 5.50, but € 4 on Monday and for the first show on Tues - Fri

Cine Doré/Filmoteca
Situated in a wonderful art deco building, this cinema has been around since 1953 and is proud to have survived attempts in the 1980s to turn it into an office building. A number of artists and journalists led a mass protest to save the theatre, and have now made it into a unique an off-beat cinema. This is probably where you will find the richest variety of films in Madrid, all in original versions. They show everything from 1920s classics to contemporary art films as well as major international productions. Tickets are very cheap. They usually start showing movies at 5.30 pm, and the last ones are shown at 10 pm.

Opening times: Tues - Sun 4 pm - 12 am

Many art films are presented, as well as lesser known films from Spain and abroad. First movies are shown at 5.30 pm and the last at 10 pm.
