Teatro Real
This magnificent theatre is known as one of the best opera halls in Europe because of its unsurpassed acoustics and modern facilities. It is also an excellent place to put on plays and state-of-the-art equipment allows for impressive stage designs and special effects. The hall was originally built in 1817 at the order of Fernando VII, and opened in 1850. It enjoyed many years of great success, but deteriorated in the early 20th century and had to be closed down because of disrepair. In the 1960s it was renovated and reopened, and the concert hall was improved as recently as 1997. The main theatre now includes 1,745 seats. Another of the intereresting features is the unusual hexagonal floor plan of the entire building.
Alfil

Their productions are geared toward the satirical and humourous in general, and in the past the theatre has hosted the Internacional Teatro de Humor festival. There are usually shows daily, but the schedule varies. The box office opens an hour before each performance.
