Brasserie de Lista
Though a predominantly French restaurant, this one serves some Spanish dishes as well. It is busiest during lunchtime, when it fills up with business people on their lunchbreak, but has a more intimate atmopshere in the evenings. The décor is elegant and there is a nice outdoor terrace in use in the summer. The specialties focus on grilled meats and overn-roasted fish, and there are some great beers and wines on offer as well.

L’Entrecôte
This is a friendly and down-to-earth restaurant serving a variety of traditional French dishes. The setting is very cozy, with tables crammed quite close together, but this is only a disadvantage when it is very crowded. The delicious food includes the house specialty of entrecote steak, served with french fries and salad, and a number of fish dishes. A variety of gourmet salads are offered, served with a great dressing. The homemade desserts here are well known, and two favourites include the cappuccino cake and the soufflés. Prices average between € 20 - 30. Reservations are recommended.

Chez Margo
A small and intimate French restaurant, Chez Margo serves food with flair. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, and due to the small number of people they are serving, the chefs can present you with imaginative and elaborately-prepared dishes at reasonable prices. Two of the house specialties are skate in black butter sauce and duck’s liver pate with walnut oil. There are a variety of nice French and Spanish wines served by the bottle or by the glass. Prices average around € 25 for a meal. Reservations are recommended.

El Viejo León
This is one of Madrid’s longest-established French restaurants, and is run by the acclaimed chef Dominique Garde. They serve classic and traditional dishes as well as some more experimental ones. The dish that they are most famous for is pate de foie gras, but other popular ones include steak tartare, scrambled eggs with wild mushrooms, beef fondue, and spinach and salmon pancakes. There is a wonderful selection of fine wines to choose from. Prices are fairly high, averaging around € 35.
