A traditional taverna located right in the centre, this tapas bar has a wonderful old world atmosphere. This tapas bar is a popular nightlife spot and is known as a good place to chat with friendly locals as well as meet other international tourists. It is located in the centre of town, and there are a number of nice outdoor tables in the summer. They play a variety of music, including a lot of flamenco. During the day, tapas is served with drinks and you can also order more substantial food. The décor includes some beautiful painted tiles on the walls, depicted scenes of 20th century Madrid.

Casa Carmencita
This restaurant has been around for more than a hundred years, having opened in 1840. They still serve some of the best traditional food in the city, and have a variety of delicious tapas dishes. Other popular favourites include filet of pork, mollusks cooked in port, codfish with garlic, and cocido. One of its claims to fame is that it was once the favourite restaurant of the poet Federico Garcia Lorca.

Antonio Sanchez
The original owner of this restaurant was a bullfighter, and he named this place after his son who died fighting a bull. His influence has stuck, and though now under different ownership, the restaurant is still full of bullfighting décor. There is a wide selection of tapas on offer, some of the most popular being garlic soup and smoked fish montados. The atmosphere is friendly and casual.
