The Bagatti Valsecchi Museum
The Bagatto Museum exhibits Italian Renaissance art and the decorative art collections of the Barons Fausto and Guiseppe Bagatti Valsecchi. According to the notion of the two brothers, their art collections express the traditional taste of the day. They mingled antique objects and modern comforts and designed them in the Renaissance style In order to create a seamless environment that presents the family’s patriotism and the ancient history. The museum is mainly interesting to architects, artists, designers and historians who want to experience the prime example of taste of the 19th century.

Tues – Sun 1 pm – 5.45 pm

Entrance prices: 6 €, on Wed: 3 €, children up to the age of 5 are free, children from 6 – 14 years: 2 €, Students wit student ID card: 3 € and seniors 65+: 3 €

Museum Castello Sforzesco
The impressive halls of the Castello Sforzesco are today used as a museum for art. The ground floor of the Palazzo Ducale hosts the museum for antique art including the last piece of Michelangelo Buonarroti from 1564. The first floor exhibits antique furniture and a pinotheque, amongst them also a painting of Galeazzo Maria Sforza. In the halls of Rocchetta collections of applied arts and a collection of valuable historical music instruments are displayed. The Castello also includes a pre-historic and an Egyptian Museum.

Adults: 3 €, university students and students from the Academies of Fine Arts and seniors +65: 1,50 €

Free admittance: Fridays, from 2 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. - Tuesday through Thursday and on weekends, from 4.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. (admittance until 5 p.m.)

Museum Duomo
The museum of Milan’s cathedral tells the story of the Duomo as a living monument that presents the history and the art of the past. The museum wants to give a closer insight into the pieces of work without being superficial; it wants to create an appreciation for the artists of the different ages, their creativity and the various techniques used. For all people who are interested in the history of the cathedral, this museum offers a great possibility to get an in-depth analysis of the past, the differences between the European and Lombard components as well as the evolution of taste and culture of the country in a religious, cultural and human context.

Museum del Risorgimento
The Museum del Risorgimento is located in the antique Palazzo Moriggia and displays historical documents about the history of Milan including paintings, documents, prints, sculptures from the Risorgimento as well as pieces of remembrance from the coronation of Napoleon, the desk of Mazzini and some works of Indusso, Hajez, Morelli and Gemito.

Football Museum Inter & Milan
The Football Museum of the traditional football teams AC Milan and Inter (Internazionale Football Club) rouses memories of great football games and extraordinary football players. The museum grew from the private collection of Onorato Arisi and is the only one in Italy of its kind. It tells the history of both famous football teams by displaying unique pieces such as goblets, shoes and footballs from the time of commencement around 1900 as well as original football shirts from Rivera, Mazzola, Pelč and Maradona to Zidane, Crujiff and Ronaldo.
The football museum and the stadium can be visited off the playing times. Usually the museum closes 30 minutes before the beginning of a game. Entrance is at gate 21.

Aquario Civico
Aquari Civico is the oldest and largest aquarium in Italy. In 36 large pools over 100 different species of fish are placed in recreated environments from the Mediterranean to the Amazon. Beside Italian marine and freshwater fish the aquarium shows exotic sea life from Africa, Asia and Latin-America. The freshwater pool hosts some piranhas from the Amazon. But there are also many amphibians which have their home in a big terrarium that is located at the end section of the museum. The whole year the aquarium organises many events especially for families, including contests, shows and guided tours. The library of the Aquario Civico is precious and one of the most important sources when it comes to marine biology and oceanic studies in Italy.

Museum of Science and Technology Leonardo da Vinci
The museum is located in the former monastery San Vittore from the 16th century. It exhibits a rich collection of items that presents the history of industry and technology. Named after Leonardo da Vinci the museum is one of most interesting museums in the whole world. On 40.000 m˛ there is an exhibition of subjects ranging from astronomy to computers including da Vinci’s models, instruments for representing the universe, recording and reproducing devices as well as engines and models of transportation. But there is more than just watching because at the museum people have the possibility to handle objects and use 18 different laboratories as for example for chemistry or biology.

Museum of the Teatrale alla Scala
The museum of the Teatro alla Scala is a crucial element for the development and preservation of the artistic heritage of Milan’s La Scala. It wants to promote the history and the prestige of this famous theatre house, not only in Italy but also abroad. The museum presents valuable theatre objects as well as collections from Verdi’s production time. Besides there are temporary exhibitions that value the great artists who contributed to the history of the theatre and give sponsors the opportunity to link their name projects revealing the historical magnitude of the Teatro alla Scala.

Museum Poldi-Pezolli
The museum is located in the house of Baron Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli who also founded the museum. He had a strong capability and passion for collecting art. His collections started with arms and armours. Later he enriched it with precious objects such as paintings and sculptures from the Renaissance and the Venetian 18th century. But the collection also includes precious enamels and jewellery from medieval times as well as carpets, tapestries, jewels, glass and porcelain. The museum is certainly one of the most beautiful museums in Milan.

Casa di Riposo Guiseppe Verdi
The Casa di Riposo per Musicisti is an residence for retired musicians, singers and conductors in Milan. The Venetian style palazzo was built by Guiseppe Verdi who wanted to create a place for less fortunate musicians to spend their last days. But the great composer’s idea is not really taking shape as the residents are not retiring at all. There can be tours organised for groups.

Planetarium Ulrico Hoepli
The planetarium in Milan was the second planetarium in Italy. It was a donation of the publisher Ulrico Hoepli to whom also the name is dedicated. In 1930 the planetarium was opened. It is equipped with a Zeiss model IV under the 19,6 m big cupola. There are 320 wooden seats for people who want to take part in the numerous shows and lectures given by the planetarium. Today it is the only big planetarium in Italy after the one in Rome was closed in 1987.
