Shopping

Milan is a paradise for all lovers of luxurious fashion goods. The start makes the famous Via Montenapoleone, Via della Spiga and Via Sant Andrea which are elegant streets that together with Via Manzoni, Via Borgospesso and Sia Santo Spirito are forming the luxurious fashion quarter Quadrilatero. This world famous and popular area is packed with pompous shops. One boutique lines up after the other; one show room competes with another without any end in sight which feeds the triumph of consumer stimulation. In Quadrilatero you find luxury, truthful and expensive luxury that can only be afforded by a small portion of the chosen upper class. Sparkling accessories, clothes, shoes and jewellery, all designed by the big names of the fashion industry, master pieces that already seem to be too much worth to be worn at all. The shopping world includes names such as Gucci, Versace, Salvatore, Ferragamo, Fratelli Rossetti, Etro, Loro Piana, Luis Vuitton, Prada, Valentino, cartier, Tanino Crisci, D&G, Sergio Rossi, Bulgari, Genny, Gianfranco Ferrè and many other fashion gods.

For shopping that is more down to earth visitors should try Corso Vittorio Emanuele, Corso Buenos Aires, Via Torino and Corso di Porta Ticinese. Here you can find also well known brands like H&M, Zara and Furla which are located in between spectacular shop windows of Max Mara, Moreschi, Bruno Magli and Pollini. In Via Torino there are more casual styled shops with sportive fashion from Foot Looker, Camper or Energy. Alternative shopping is also possible in Milan, believe it or not! The best place for that is Corso di Porta Ticinese which has many second-hand shops, bizarre objects for house and home as well as boutiques that sell self-made clothes and accessories made from top-quality fabrics. Fashion outlets are usually located around the city.

There are two very interesting markets in Milan: Fiera di Seningalia which takes place every Saturday and changes the Viale d’Annunzio into a colourful spectacle. Here you can find everything: South American, Indian and African handicraft, new and old clothes, antiques, candles and oils of any kind, books and much much more. Mercatore del Naviglio along the Alzaia Naviglio Grande becomes very last Sunday in a month a big antique market with furniture, books, jewellery and many other things.
