Haus der Kunst (House of Arts)
The building of „Haus der Kunst“was designed in 1937 by Paul Ludwig Troost and has today the name "Weißwurstallee" because the many white pillars along the Prinzregentenstraße remind people to much of the Bavarian culinary speciality - Bavarian veal sausage. From 1949 the building was used for the annual Big Art Exhibition Munich.
Until the opening of the “Pinakothek der Moderne” this art house hosted the state gallery of modern art in the west wing of the building. The east wing is usually used for special exhibitions. In 2003 and 2004 the inside of the House of Arts was reconstructed and brought back to the initial state before 1960. Because of its thematic exhibitions and its retrospectives this venue developed into one of the most valued and most popular locations of the international exhibiting business.

Galerie Goethe’53
The gallery of the cultural department is, with its light historical rooms in the Goethesraße 53, an important part of Munich’s art and gallery scene. It was initially created for international artists but soon it was obvious that the doors needed to be open for a broader audience in order to present the attraction and the tension of different cultures. The gallery focuses on the promotion of young promising artists, provides a platform for their presentations and paves the way for their future success. Between the gallery Goethe 53 and the “Academy of Fine Arts” there is a strong bond. Therefore it is not surprising that many exhibitors are actually students of the academy.

Mo – Fr 11 am – 6 pm, closed on public holidays

Goethestr. 53
