The Viktualienmarkt is without doubt the best known market in Munich which is appreciated by locals and tourists alike. Initially started as a farmer’s market the Viktualienmarkt soon developed into a place for everybody who loves and values good and tasty food. The amount, the richness and the exclusivity of the offered goods create a special atmosphere. Wooden booths, market-women and benches in the shadow of chestnut trees make this place so distinctive. 140 different stands offer flowers, exotic fruits, venison, chicken, herbs and spices as well cheeses, fish, juices and much more. The tradesmen and women are offering their products from Monday to Saturday until 8 pm. And honestly speaking there is no other place where you can find a bigger and fresher assortment of groceries and delicacies.

Elisabethmarkt
The Elisabethmarkt is located in Schwabing and often attracts many people to have a Brotzeit in the beer garden. The name of the market goes back to the Austrian empress Sissi and provides people with fresh vegetables, fruits, chicken, meat and delicacies already for over a hundred years.

Located next to the city hall of Pasing in a pretty courtyard the market spreads a distinctive atmosphere. Actually the name Viktualienmarkt was already taken but by then the city of Pasing didn’t belong to Munich, yet which made it again legitimate. The market provides people of the neighbourhood with fresh food of best quality.

This market is the smallest of the constant markets in Munich. It is located on the Viennese square in Haidhausen and dates back to 1889. After some restorations the Viennese square at the centre of this city part has become a treasure which offers everything for the spoiled gourmet but also usual every day food is available.
