Café Beaubourg
This is a large café that is subdivided into smaller areas and functions as a bar-restaurant. There is a nice terrace with comfortable chairs, and is a popular place to hang out for both tourists and local regulars. The food is simple and basic, yet tasty and filling. Most of the dishes are traditional French food.

Buvette des gaufres
This is a beautiful garden café located within the scenic Luxembourg gardens. The café is near to the famous Medicis fountain, and is a very pleasant place to eat, especially in warm weather when one can sit outside. A variety of drinks and light meals are served, with particular emphasis on pasteries. As is typical for cafés in Paris, the food and drinks are not cheap.

Café de la Mairie
This charming café has fabulous coffee and serves a variety of sandwiches, omlettes and salades, among other things. The café made a name for itself in the 1950s when it became a popular hangout for artists and intellectuals. There is a nice terrace overlooking the square, and the inside decor is distinctive with decorative carved stone and mirrors. Food is served late into the night.

Café de Flore
A lively and chic establishment, this café has been a historical landmark since 1890. Many well-known writers and artists have frequented this café, including the philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre. The food on offer is mostly snacks and pastries, and there are lovely coffees, teas, champagne and fine wines.

Lou Pascalou
This gem of a café is a bit off the beaten path, tucked away in a little square in the Menilmontant district. It is worth visiting for its great food and teas as well as its remarkably friendly atmosphere. Several local artists come here regularly, and a display of their work decorates the walls.

Salon de thé de la Mosquée de Paris
This café connected to the Paris Mosque is a lovely and exotic place to have a drink and some traditional middle eastern sweets. The coffee and mint tea is very good, and the terrace in the courtyard blossoms with flowers and plants. The sumptuous interior has high wooden ceilings, decorative woodwork, oriental carpets and miniature fountains.

This is a very popular bar in the Saint-Germain district that tends to attract a fashionable and trendy crowd. A typical Parisian bar, all kinds of drinks are served as well as a lunch menu of classic French bistro dishes.

Onix Café
This is a hip bar in the Halles area, that manages to be both retro and postmodern, playing music tending to the avant-garde in a charming traditional setting. Snacks are served, but most people don’t come here for the food. A bit removed from the main city attractions, the outdoor tables are quiet, making this a nice place to come to unwind.

Le Sancerre
This bar-café caters to a young and hip crowd, but has a more subdued and sophisticated atmopshere than many such establishments. Not very well-known by tourists, this bar is frequented primarily by locals. The food is hearty and of good quality, and lunch and dinner are served daily.

This is a popular bar to watch rugby in, as it is run by a group of former rugby players and features a large screen. It has a very friendly atmosphere, and has a line of sportswear for sale as well as all the usual drinks and a small variety of snacks.

This bar-restaurant is a very chic place to spend an evening. Decorated with exotic flair, the establishment contains multiple rooms, most of which are filled with comfortable leather armchairs. A variety of delicious cocktails are among the specialties, and there is a wide selection of gourmet food to choose from, most of it Chinese. On the weekends, a live jazz group is often in attendance.
