Paris is one of the great cultural centres of Europe, with legendary art museums, a thriving music and dance scene and a variety of theatre events happening daily. While the Louve is probably the city’s most famous museum, with one of the most extensive art collections in the world, there are also several other important and distinctive museums, such as La Cité des Sciences and history museums such as La Musée de Cluny. The performing arts scene is particularly lively, and music of all styles can be heard in venues throughout the city, from the two renowned opera houses to a variety of jazz clubs and concert halls specializing in experimental and avant-garde performances. The city is also home to a diverse array of cinemas, many featuring art films as well as mainstream productions.
