You may find this surprising, but actually there isn’t a big difference between café’s and bars in Rome. Unlike bars in most western countries, Italian bars do not serve only alcoholic drinks, but also a wide variety of hot and cold non – alcoholic beverages such as espresso, cappuccino, caff’e freddo and many other forms of coffee. Most bars and café’s also serve hot and cold snacks, pizza, sandwiches, cakes and ice – cream.
Rome’s streets are packed with café’s and bars, and you can find them in any size or shape: from small standing room only, to bars which are really small restaurants and up to large restaurants with a small bar at their entrance.
Most café’s and bars in the centre of Rome are open from 7 am till midnight, and there is nothing better than sitting in a nice Roman café and watching the world go by.
