Rome is not just a city of ancient history, museums, churches and marble walls. Although the Romans enjoy taking it easy, and their nightlife may seem a little less exciting than in other European cities, there is plenty to do at night. The Romans favourite way to spend an evening out is taking a stroll or hanging out in the piazzas and on the steps of old churches, but there are also many bars, clubs and pubs where you can hang out.
Bars are open until early in the morning, and most bars are located in the centre of town especially at the area of Campo dei Fioro, Piazza Navona and Trastevere.
If you are looking for a nightclub, it is best to head to the area around Piramide metro station. During summer time, most nightclubs in the city close and the nightclub activity relocates to the seaside area.
Nightclubs usually charge an entrance fee on weekends, but many of them are free on weekdays. The entrance fee tickets normally include a free drink, but keep in mind that alcohol is pretty pricey. A list of places to go and things to do is provided by the weekly magazine Roma C''e'' (look for the small English section at the back).
