Café Dudok
One of the best and most popular cafés in Rotterdam, Dudok is located is a large former warehouse and attracts an artsy crowd. It is full of long reading tables, and it a mellow place to hang out in the afternoon, becoming busier in the evening. The café is open all day, and you can come here for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late-night snacks. The food is good, and if you want to eat dinner here it is best to come early as the place can fill up quickly. There are all kinds of drinks, including many nice cocktails, on offer too.

This is a popular café located on one of the city’s bustling nightlife squares. This café is owned by a local brewery, the Stadsbrouwerij de Pelgrim, and therefore has great beer. Every season the café offers a new type of beer, recently conconcted by the brewery. They also serve simple, traditional Dutch food, and many other kinds of drinks besides beer. There is a beautiful terrace open in warm weather, with a nice view of the Schouwburgplein.

Café Vermeulen
One of the very oldest cafés in Rotterdam, Café Vermeulen in located in the heart of the historic Delfshaven area. Very little has changed in the appearance and décor of the café since the early 1900s, and it has a lovely old world atmosphere, with lots of wood and some beautiful stained glass windows. They serve a varied selection of drinks, specializing in beers, and have a menu of simple yet tasty food.

This café is located on the Oude Haven and is a well-known student hangout. It is on the first floor of Europe’s first skyscraper, known as The White House. The oldest Irish pub in Rotterdam, Paddy Murphy’s has acquired quite a reputation, and is known as one of the best Irish pubs the Netherlands. The establishment has three different bars within it, one of which has live music every night, one dedicated to sports, and a quiter, standard bar. All three of them have a friendly, down-to-earth party atmopshere, where you can enjoy Irish stout and other drinks in an authentic setting.

De Pelgrim
This is the bar of the Stadsbrouwerij, or city brewery, in Rotterdam and is the only beer producer in the city. They of course feature their own many varieties of beer, and you can also order a nice hearty meal. Guided tours of the brewery are offered, and special events are often hosted here.

Locus Publicus
This pub is located in the historic building of a former grocery, and has nice tile scenes on the walls dating from 1900. The atmosphere here is welcoming and sedate, with classical music playing in the background. Beer is the specialty beverage here, with about 200 different varieties to choose from. Well-known among real beer lovers, this pub is one of the best places in the city to sample some delicious and unique varieties.
