Luxor Theater
This is a new theater located on the waterfront, and has become one of the biggest entertainment venues in the Netherlands. It features a very broad range of theatre, dance, and music performances, with emphasis on drama, and the plays range from the traditional to the new and highly experimental. Rotterdamse Schouwburg
Located right in the centre of Rotterdam, this venue is primarily dedicated to theatre, dance and opera, and occasionally other musical events. It is known for being a hotspot of hip, contemporary productions, and is often used for new multimedia performances. More than 500 shows a year take place here, and there is always a varied and exciting program which you can find on the Schouwburg website.
Theater Zuidplein
This theatre is located in the south of Rotterdam, and presents a variety of plays, musicals, and dance performances. It is known for its lively cabaret shows, and musicals suitable for children. The plays are most often contemporary or 20th century productions, but there are some old classics put on as well.
Theater Lantaren/Venster
Both a cinema and a theatre, this venue specialises in art films and small-scale dance and theatre performances. There are four different film studios, and there are viewings every evening. The theatre is located in the centre of the city and presents films all year round. The drama program, however, runs from September to May.
