This is the largest bookstore in all of the Netherlands, and in addition to a huge selection of books, sells multimedia items, CDs, sheet music, stationary, games and toys, all of very high quality. They have a nice selection of foreign language books, as well as dictionaries and maps. There is also a café within the bookstore.

De Slegte
This is a chain with many stores throughout Holland, and has a huge selection of books, both new and second hand. This is a great place to find bargains on gently used books, and the new books are also reasonably priced. There are many books in English and other foreign languages, mixed in with the Dutch books. They also have a particularly good art section. You can bring any old books of your own here to sell.
Tolle Lege
A small yet well-known bookstore, Tolle Lege specializes in old and rare books, but also has some regular second hand books and some new books. Their featured genres are children’s books, books about Rotterdam and Dutch history, maps, and maritime books, but cover many other topics as well.

This is another Antiquarian bookstore, specializing in books about Rotterdam and the city’s history. They carry books in different languages, and this is the perfect place to come if you are interested in reading about Rotterdam and enjoy books that tell a story.
