Of course Salzburg is more than just Mozart but nevertheless, he is what formed Salzburg’s cultural name in the rest of the world. People visiting the city should therefore not miss to visit Mozart’s birthplace and his residential house. But beside Mozart Salzburg offers much more. There is a tremendous amount of cultural facilities and yearly cultural events. The city possesses a couple of worldly known orchestras performing around the year in many of the musical venues like the famous Festival Halls (Great Festival, Hall, House for Mozart, the halls of the Mozarteum and the halls of the Orchestra House of the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg). Musical events include the Salzburg Festival every summer, Salzburg Castle Concerts, a diversity of jazz concerts, Christmas concerts as well as concerts of contemporary music. But also theatre, cotemporary art and architecture are important parts of Salzburg’s cultural life. The city’s museums are mainly focused on the Salzburg’s history or are included in one of the numerous castles and palaces. But apart from the big exhibition rooms and museums there are many small and bigger galleries exhibiting paintings, photography and statuary. Furtehrmore, Salzburg has a lot of facilities and foundations that sponsor, support or communicate the cultural heritage of the city.
