Kadriorg Palace Art Musuem
This musuem is housed in a spectacular summer palace built by Peter the Great in the 18th century for his empress Catherine. It contains Estonia''s biggest collection of foreign art, featuring Russian works from the 18th and 19th centuries and Dutch, German, Italian and other master paintings from the 16th-18th centuries. There are also collections of sculptures and porcelein and glassworks. The rooms of the palace themselves are worth a visit, with lots of ornate Baroque decor, and there are also beautiful landscaped gardens which are open to the public in the warm months.

Estonian Musuem of Natural History
This three-storey musuem full of animal and plant specimens is geared towards children, but can be fascinating for everyone. There are taxidermic specimens of all the common Estonian animals as well as many more exotic ones. One of the featured attractions is the biggest fish ever caught in the Baltics, also used as the musuem''s mascot. Most of the exhibits have English placards, and if you don''t see these, look for the printed information sheets provided.

Estonian History Musuem
This musuem is located in the city''s 15th century Great Guild Hall, and has exhibits about Estonian history from the country''s very beginnings up through the eighteenth century. The first room is dedicated to Estonian currency, from ancient coins to the very first paper money, to modern money. Then there are exhibits of artifacts from stone and bronze age dwellings in Estonia and some life-sized models. Each glass case, as you work your way clockwise around the hall, focuses on a later period in Estonian history. The story ends with the early 1800s. Texts about the exhibits are provided in Estonian, English and Russian.

Estonian Maritime Musuem
This musuem is dedicated to seafaring in Estonia through the ages, and brings it to life through many models, artifacts, charts and maps. The musuem is located in a 16th century tower, known as the Fat Margaret cannon tower. One of the highlights is the antique diving equipment, as well as the lovely view from the roof.

Theatre and Music Musuem
This musuem focuses mainly on music, though does contain a few theatrical exhibits. It is located in the quirky medieval Assawe tower, and the main collection is made up of old and unusual musical instruments. There are historical instruments like clavichords and some Renaissance and Baroque wind instruments, as well as examples of old horns made in strange shapes. There are also some interesting mechanical music machines, and they will crank them up if you pay extra.

Applied Art Musuem
Estonia is known for its contemporary design, and this museum presents an impressive array of Estonian art and design objects through the ages. The collection includes textile art, ceramics, porcelain, leather, glass, jewellery, metalwork, furniture and more. There is also a photography section, including negatives and slides, and an in-depth library and archive. There are always temporary exhibitions that change frequently in addition to the permanent collection. The musuem is located in a picturesque 27th century storehouse in the Old Town.

Niguliste Musuem and Concert Hall
This is a 13th century Gothic church affiliated with the Estonian Art Museum, and presents a wonderful collection of art from the 15th and 16th centuries as well as some beautiful Baroque and Renaissance chandeliers. One of the highlights is Bernt Nolke''s amazing and disturbing painting Danse Macabre from the 1400s. There are also organ concerts here every Saturday and Sunday at 4 pm.
