Keskturg
This is Tallinn’s central market, conveniently located in one of the main shopping districts. It recently had a roof added over it, making it more pleasant to shop here on rainy days. There is an excellent selection of produce here, the best of any market in the city, as well as many other food items such as cheese, jams, bread, canned goods, and more. There are also some stalls selling clothes and assorted junk.

Opening times: Daily 8 am - 4 pm

Balti Jaama Turg
This is a market frequented mainly by locals, situated around the back of the train station. It’s a bit grittier than the other markets in the city, and while you can find some great bargains, it isn’t exactly in the safest part of town. It’s safe enough during the day if you keep an eye out, and at the market you can find an interesting assortment of goods, from spare parts, tools, and electronics to second-hand clothes and books, as well as some produce and meat stalls.

Opening times: Mon - Sat 8 am - 7 pm, Sun 8 am - 5 pm

Knit Market
A craft market featuring knitted items of all sorts, this is a very popular market with tourists. The vendors are mainly little old ladies, though you see some fresh, young faces as well. The knitted garments include hats, gloves, mittens, warm wooly sweaters as well as lightweight spring ones, shawls, scarves, and legwarmers. Many of the knits feature traditional Scandanavian patterns, and all are very skillfully made.

Opening times: Daily 9 am - 5 pm

Corner of Viru and Müürivahe

Merekeskus
This market is basically geared towards tourists, selling a lot of souvenirs and some rather cheap and gaudy goods. It can definitely be a fun place to browse around, though, and can be a good place to find bargains if you’re not too picky. The items for sale range from underwear and swimsuits to CDs, and it sort of a bit of everything.

Opening times: Daily 8 am - 7 pm
