This theatre is located in Scheveningen in what used to be a riding school, and has been around for more than thirty years. The company here puts emphasis on experiemental theatre and bringing old classics to life in new ways. They perform many works by both old and new writers, and if you go to see well-known plays, there are sure to be some original twists. The shows here are garanteed to be vibrant, energetic and well-performed.

Koninklijke Schouwburg
This opulent “royal theatre” was originally built as a palace for Prince Karel Christiaan van Nassau Weilburg, but has was made into a theatre in 1804. The building is a beautiful and ornate 18th century structure, and the theatre is fairly intimate with none of the seats being too far away from the stage. The performances here include a wide range of plays, operas and dance performances. The theatre company that regularly performs here is called the Nationale Toneel, and is one of the very best in The Netherlands, specializing in classic works, such as Shakespeares, Chekhov and Ibsen. There is also a café in the theatre, which is a popular place to stop for a pre-show drink or snack.
Theater Restaurant Toussaint Spectacle
The Toussaint Theatre Restaurant offers a unique cabaret show including dinner, theatre, and music. The actors also work as servers, and receive the guests in the style of whatever the particular show of the evening is. Expect to be entertained, amused, and impressed by the enthusiastic performances. The food is also quite good. You can find details of all the current shows on the Toussaint Spectacle website.

Theater Diligentia
Centrally located on one of the most famous streets in The Hague, this historic theatre building was constructed in the 17th century. Renovated to much of its former glory, it features an impressive central hall and an intricately decorated ceiling in the foyer. The productions in Theater Diligentia include traditional plays, musicals, stand-up comedy, and childrens’ shows.

Theater de Veste
Located near to the centre of Delft, Theater de Veste is a new, modern theater that opened in 1996 and is used for a variety of theatre performances and concerts. It features everything from plays and comedy acts to opera, jazz, and contemporary dance. There are several matinee shows geared toward families and younger audiences.
Stardust Theatre
This theatre features a broad range of theatrical performances and is known for its musicals and comedy shows. In recent years the theatre has become known for its succesful “black musicals,” such as A Night at the Cotton Club and Jospehine and Mowtown. You can also see top-notch dance groups perform here from all over the world, doing classical, ethnic, and contemporary dance as well as other styles.
