The Hague has several different squares and streets that are bustling nightlife centres, and there is a wide variety of bars, music venues, clubs, and other forms of entertainment going on late at night. The Grote Markt is one of the most popular squares to go bar hopping, and in warm weather is full of chairs on outdoor terraces. De Boter Waag and De Zwarte Ruiter are two well-known and atmospheric bars on the square, and there are also a number of restaurants here that stay open late. Other popular nightlife areas include the Plein and the Buitenhof, where another concentration of bars and clubs can be found. Late-night live music venues are many, and scattered throughout the city centre. Paard van Troje and Muziekcafé De Paap are some of the best-known, and feature a wide variety of pop, folk, jazz, and more.
In the summer, Scheveningen beach is always alive at night, with clubs and bars located right by the water, a casino, and the odd theatre, dance or music performance.
